Thank you, thank you, thank you ....
Even with only a brief window of good weather, Haverhill gymnastics club had a successful 'Fun Day' - the 1st we've hosted (but definitely not the last).
Our Next event will be a 'Disco'. Keep checking on here regularly for further details.

Off to a good start, the 'Car Booters' were set-up nice and early. The Ponies Arrived The youngest age group were soon ready for the off! For the top 3 fastest Girls and Boys Before long, the next age group were ready to go. The Pack spread out by lap 2 Before joining in himself Everyone did really, really well & after an early ankle problem, Kevin was soon offering moral support for a lonely 6 laps. The MASCOT was popular with the children Even though it was windy, cold(ish) and the rain set in after only two and a half hours ....With Raffle prizes galore, tombola, guess the name, catch the fish, cake stands, pony rides, bouncy castle (including coaching support) & Good Food (Thanks to Stav's kebab burger and chip van, manned by Dougie and his son), a thoroughly fantastic day was had by all ... and we raised some money for the new building ... Just under £500 at the initial count, but we still have fun run sponsorship to add to that ... so watch this space and we'll let you know the final 'scores on the doors' once all 'building funds' have been collected. Which only leaves it for us to say ... THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU ... to all those who volunteered their ideas and time to help us make this happen - you are helping us to get closer to making a real difference for hundreds of local children ... | 'Fun Run' and athletics activities were ready ... And then the first round of the sponsored fun run was ready for the off. Thanks go to Haverhill Running Club's Trevor Bunch for arranging medals, format and facilitating the event. And we soon had our first medals being handed out. And they were off! And Head Coach and Haverhill Gymnastics Chairman, Kevin Woolcott was soon line-side cheering them all on. A little bit of 'Hare & Tortoise' tactics saw some lead from the front, while some back markers came through to win after 4 laps. We only had a couple of runners in the older age group but .... ankle injury or not, the only other runner in this age group fought her way around to finish!!! Earning much admiration and respect in the process. & presented a little extra pressie (kindly donated by Ipswich Building Society - a kit bag each) for the medal winners. Which brought team GB 'Olympic success' to mind ;-) Before other runners joined in for final photo's. |
